First 12 PL games only · Rosenior: W5 D2 L5 after 0–1 vs Man Utd · 18 Apr 2026.
Liam Rosenior was appointed on 6 January 2026 with no top-flight managerial experience, a contract to 2032, and the quiet confidence of an ownership group that has now hired seven managers in four years. His predecessors on this list averaged a combined 1.89 PPG at this stage. Rosenior is averaging 1.55 — behind a man who was sacked mid-season in 2012 and another who lasted seven months before being replaced by a caretaker who won the Champions League. BlueCo described the appointment as "the right decision for the club." The table disagrees.

Manager Verdict — March 2026
Wrong Club. Wrong Moment.
Decent manager. Three years too early. Entirely the board's fault.
Rosenior has a future in management. That future did not include Chelsea in January 2026 — no pre-season, fractured squad, owners who had just sacked the best manager they'd had in years.
WHAT HE IS
Hull City manager. Strasbourg. A future in the game.
Ideas are good. No time to implement them.
Hired because no serious candidate would take the job.
WHAT THE BOARD DID
Sacked Maresca over a power struggle, not results.
Mid-season hire. No pre-season. No runway.
Built a squad too young for European football.
Clearlake and Boehly are running a balance sheet, not a football club.
Cucurella
His ideas are good, but we don't have the time to train them. We play every three days.
Fernández
Sometimes there are things that we as players don't understand, how and in what way they try to manage things.
He will be sacked. The board will call it a football decision.

What selling Tier 2 means
Palmer, Estêvão and João Pedro are the three players BlueCo actually got right. They are the exception to every rule this ownership has demonstrated. Selling any of them solves the financial problem and destroys the sporting one. Tier 1 just about plugs the hole. Tier 2 is what happens if it doesn't.
Tier 1 generates ~£135m in accounting profit. It just about covers the gap — but you lose your most-played academy product, your best-value midfielder, your starting RB cover and a 19-year-old being tracked by Real Madrid. All to pay for decisions they had no part in.
The phone has already rung for Tier 2. Barcelona called João Pedro. Real Madrid are watching Estêvão. Palmer is on the back pages this morning. The owners built the straitjacket — and the vultures are circling the only players worth having.
The equity escape hatch exists. Clearlake can write a cheque and lift the 2026 target to £60m. That would make Tier 1 sufficient and protect Tier 2. Every day they don't is a choice — and the players left exposed earned the right to stay.

The last time Chelsea lost four games in a row was April 2023 — under caretaker Frank Lampard, who lost his first four in charge: Wolves, Real Madrid (×2), Brighton. He now resides in this site's graveyard.

Before that? October–November 1993. Over 30 years ago. Glenn Hoddle had just taken over as player-manager — he inherited a losing streak on day one. This is where Rosenior has taken us.

🏦 BlueCo's debt mountain

The club itself is ring-fenced. Unlike Man United — where the Glazers loaded debt directly onto the club (paying £37m/year in interest) — Chelsea FC is not legally liable for these loans. They sit in the BlueCo/22 Holdco ownership structure above the club. However, they create enormous pressure on Clearlake to generate returns from Chelsea, which means pressure on Rosenior to qualify for the Champions League, sell players at profit, and keep commercial revenues high. The debt problem doesn't go away just because it's one floor up.

⚖️ SCR — The New Financial Rules
Replacing PSR from 2026–27
The Premier League's PSR rules (max £105m losses over 3 years) could be on the way out from next season, set to be replaced by Squad Cost Ratio (SCR) — a harder, cleaner system that limits squad spending to a percentage of revenue. For Chelsea, this could change everything.
≤85%
🟢 Green
Fully compliant. No action.
86–115%
🟡 Amber
Financial levy. No points deduction. Yet.
>115%
🔴 Red
Points deduction. Fixed 6pts + 1pt per £6.5m over.
🚫
Chelsea already fined by UEFA for breaching UEFA's equivalent SCR limit (then 80%) in 2024–25. A warning shot that the new era has real teeth.
🏨
The loophole is closed. Chelsea sold two Stamford Bridge hotels to a sister company for £76.5m and the women's team for £200m to boost PSR compliance. Under SCR, only pure football revenues count — those tricks no longer work.
📉
Missing the Champions League tightens this dramatically. SCR is calculated on revenue — lose £98m in UCL income and your squad cost allowance shrinks accordingly. Less revenue = less permitted spending = forced sales.
📅
Assessed every March. Unlike PSR's 3-year rolling window, SCR is assessed annually. No more smoothing bad years over good ones. Every season stands alone.
🔵
Currently shadow-running alongside PSR. Full enforcement begins 2026–27. This season Chelsea cannot be penalised under SCR — but the clock is ticking.

Lost all three: 2–3 (CC H), 0–1 (CC A), 1–2 (PL A). Combined: 3–6. Arsenal unbeaten against Chelsea in the Premier League for what feels like forever.
🎯
Palmer problem
A player of his quality should be doing better in front of goal. Gilt-edged chances going begging in recent games. Still our most dangerous player — but the finishing has not been there.

The English Core Misses the Run-In

Trevoh Chalobah is now expected to be out for around six weeks.

Which means Chelsea’s English defensive core — Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James — will not take part in the fiercely fought finale of the season and the push for a Champions League place.

The medical department remains the club’s most consistent performer.

A squad built for depth, used like it is five-a-side on a Sunday.

Rosenior's Place in History
UCL R16 vs PSG · 2025–26
Chelsea have won the Champions League twice. Conceded just 4 goals doing so in 2021 — a European record. In the 2025–26 UCL R16, Liam Rosenior wrote a very different kind of history. Frank Lampard is already in the managerial graveyard on this site.
Most goals conceded in a UCL knockout tie — Chelsea record
8 Goals
Rosenior surpassed Chelsea's previous record. Chelsea's second heaviest ever defeat in a two-legged European tie. Frank Lampard, 2019–20: 0–3 at home to Bayern, 1–4 away. 7–1 aggregate.

Chelsea 2020–21 under Tuchel: just 4 goals in 13 games. A European record that still stands. A different club. A different era.

Lampard conceded 7 in a UCL tie and was eventually sacked. He is now in the graveyard section of this very website. Rosenior has broken that record and conceded 8. The graveyard has room.

Fined £10.75m & Transfer Ban

Chelsea have been fined £10.75 million and handed a one-year transfer ban, suspended for two years, over illicit payments to agents and other individuals.

They have also received a nine-month Academy transfer ban. The Premier League investigated secret payments made by the club between 2011 and 2018.

The transactions surfaced during due diligence when BlueCo acquired the club in 2022. Chelsea self-reported the irregularities to the Premier League, the FA and UEFA.

Chelsea's pre-match ritual: entire squad huddles over the centre-spot ball before each half. Started vs Napoli (Jan 2026). Result: rival fans booing, opposing players complaining, one bewildered referee, and a PGMOL investigation. Cole Palmer hugged the ref. Rosenior blamed no one.

CFC
This site has no budget, no team, and no business existing. It tracks a football manager who respects the ball, a club that self-reports its own crimes, and an ownership group sitting on £1.165 billion of debt while firing coaches like confetti.

If it made you laugh, wince, or frantically refresh after a defeat — a coffee keeps the lights on. KTBFFH.
No pressure. Unlike BlueCo, we're not going to fine you £10.75m if you don't contribute. Though we reserve the right to give you a suspended transfer ban.
